The more availability you have, the more opportunities for hours may be available, but limited schedules can still work depending on our needs.

What does a pet sitter at PAWS UP! actually do?

Pet sitting visits can include a variety of responsibilities depending on the pets and family.

 

A typical visit may include:

• Feeding pets and refreshing water

• Walking dogs or providing potty breaks

• Scooping litter boxes

• Giving medication if needed

• Playtime, companionship, and enrichment

• Caring for cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish, and other small pets

• Sending updates and photos to clients

Dog walking visits are much more than a quick potty break.

 

Our team members help dogs stay happy, active, and mentally enriched through safe walks, companionship, playtime, and routine care.

 

Depending on the visit, dog walkers may:

• Provide midday walks and potty breaks

• Refresh water and feeding if needed

• Reinforce routines and basic manners

• Provide companionship and enrichment

• Send updates and photos to pet parents

 

Many dog walkers also choose to pick up pet sitting visits for additional hours.

 

Do I need experience to become a pet sitter or dog walker?

No professional experience is required.

 

Animal experience is helpful, but we care most about reliability, kindness, communication, and willingness to learn.

 

We provide paid training and support for the right person.

 

Can I just do dog walking, or will I also do pet sitting?

That depends on your availability and interests.

 

Some team members primarily do midday dog walking. Others focus on cat care and vacation pet sitting. Many choose to do a combination of both for additional hours.

Team members must be available for at least 2 weekends per month, though actual schedules vary depending on client demand and your availability.
